Ruben Xaus is one of the World Superbike Championship’s most talented young riders. The determined Spanish rider has already raced in this category in the 1998 German Superbike Championship, finishing 6th overall. In the next two seasons, Ruben took part in the Supersport World Championship and last year he was one of the two riders for the Ducati Infostrada Supersport team, finishing 7th overall in the standings. Ruben also made a major contribution to the development of the new 2001 Ducati. With Troy Bayliss, this year’s team-mate in the Ducati Infostrada Superbike team, Xaus carried out lengthy testing sessions at Mugello which will allow the Ducati 996R Factory bike to arrive at the start of the 2001 season with all the right cards to aim at the world title. Ruben has already established an excellent feeling with the Ducati Superbike and his determination and physical presence make Xaus a perfect rider for the scarlet-red bikes from the Bologna manufacturer, which has placed great hopes in him for the future. This season promises to be a ‘running-in’ period for the Catalan rider, but it could possibly produce some surprise results. WSBK legend Carl Fogarty sees him as the rider of the future, with similar characteristics to his own, those same in-born qualities that helped Carl to win four world superbike titles. Ruben Xaus was born in Barcelona (Spain) on 18 February 1978. He lives with his family in Barcelona, and trains on motocross bikes and jet-skis. In his free time he goes snowboarding. Xaus is 1.83 m tall and weighs 75 kg. |
